Welcome to the Mothers' Center

We are the local chapter of the not-for-profit National Association of Mothers' Centers, serving the Northport/East Northport & surrounding communities for over a decade. We believe motherhood is a lifelong journey & that there is a body of knowledge that needs to be learned and shared. We provide a welcoming, open, non-judgmental environment where every mother has a equal voice. Become a member to meet other Moms, share parenting skills, share your creative skills, socialize, & join playgroups and Mommy & Me classes, in a supportive, caring environment.

We are a co-operative. For a nominal yearly membership fee, new members can join throughout the year & participate in various Mothers' Center activities and also receive a subscription to our monthly newsletter, Touchstone. We are non-sectarian & meet at the United Methodist Church, 1018 Pulaski Rd., East Northport (near the corner of Larkfield Rd.)

To join, call 834-7192.

The Northport Mothers' Center
16th Annual Holiday House Tour and Sale
Saturday, December 6th, 2008 - 10AM - 3PM
Admission: $15.00
(Tickets go on sale starting November 1st)

Enjoy live music and delicious bakes goods as you experience the transformation of three Northport Village homes into Silent Night, Deck the Halls and Gingerbread Lane. Begin your holiday shopping with the unique crafts and gifts that fill these beautiful homes and enjoy some freshly baked cookies with apple cider or hot chocolate at our complimentary teahouse.

WHAT IS THE HOUSE TOUR?
The Holiday House Tour is a tour of the first floor of three or more homes in the Northport area. The homes are decorated, by Mothers’ Center members, in different themes for the holidays. Unique handmade items from selected vendors and items made by Mothers’ Center members are sold the day of the tour as well as giving the public ideas to take with them on how to decorate their own homes for the holidays.

 WHO COMES?
The year 2008 marks our 16th anniversary of the tour, so we now have quite a following. Nevertheless, this year we plan to make the House Tour more widely known in the community and across Long Island. We will be selling tickets via Mother Center members
as well as through local merchants.

 WHY DO WE DO IT?
As our main source of funding, the House Tour is vital to the life of the Center.  The money we raise essentially covers the majority of our operating budget for the year. A successful House Tour ensures that members do not have to do individual fundraising (selling merchandise to our friends and family).

WHAT ARE OUR GOALS FOR THE HOUSE TOUR?
- To generate funds for the Center. -
- To make connections between members. -
- To promote the Mothers’ Center to the community. -
